A Little Faith

A Little faith left the land with only a couple common calloused hands. Intent to hear what Jesus has to say, we are weary workers with no wages for the day.

Open to faith, we can listen to Christ in patient humility. In this beautiful patience we find a new exceeding and miraculous ability.

An ability for greater capacity an ability beyond human comprehension. This is the miracle of faith, an ability of God’s invention

Luke 5:2-11

2) And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.3) And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.4) Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.5) And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6) And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.7) And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.8) When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.9) For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:10) And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.11) And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

Sun, Sailboat, Sound

It is astounding to see what small steps can do! Not long ago my life had some small steps that in turn transformed my life. These steps in some measure were calculated but each one was enveloped in a faith that the steps could grow into something more. This recent turn of events was indeed marrying the love of my life! I really cannot quite get over that just yet if you have not noticed from previous post. The truth is that a relationship with Christ is just as significant and like moving towards marriage is often a series of small steps of faith towards a great faith transformation.

If man knew what faith could do, there would be more of it”

Faith really is a powerful aspect of life that should not be taken so lightly. Think of the many things that comprise your life, the jobs, the ambitions, the hobbies, the joys and sorrows, the daily nuances; all have a measure of faith to rightly run and function in our benefit. The moment a pen signs over a check or signs a contract of employment or termination there is faith being exercised that those jots carry the power needed to accomplish what those things were put in place to do. suffice to say, faith in of itself is not a foreign operation of our humanity.

by Faith

The essence of Christian faith is not far from this fabric of our common faiths exercised daily. The only difference is that unlike our daily faiths, faith in Christ requires the whole of man. The body, the will, and the spirit are included in this operation and it is nothing short of a miracle that we can even exercise such a feat of faith in a moment!

Christ did not floor any of those he asked to follow him with the “big ask” right away. Just look at the progression of Luke 5. The first request was indeed Christ initiating a relationship. He steps into Simon Peter’s boat then ask to just push out a little so He may speak to those gathered to hear Him.

“The smallest situations can cultivate a greater capacity within”

The smallest situations can cultivate a greater capacity within! Christ is the master of these and the author of this great faith capacity. It is not far from man to believe Christ came into this world for the sole purpose of saving him, dying on the cross, raising from the dead and ascending on high to forever intercede for you and I. To believe there is an eternal Savior is such a large faith but so little is asked of us to receive it and live with it. Christ indeed is and has initiated a relationship to you and I and it is just a matter of faith to enter into it. Just as I took a step to initiate a relationship with my lovely wife, Christ has taken the step towards you. Therefore it is just a step, a little exercise of that functional faith you and I use daily to be transformed forever.

“To be transformed to His way we must simply take a step away”

To be transformed to His way we must simply take a step away. Away from our definitions of faith, away from our structures of morality, away from our understanding and concepts, and simply away from the man that greets us in the mirror for a step of faith towards God is a willing step away from our concept of humanity without God. Its a step from atheism to agnostic, agnostic to curious theist, curious theist towards humble follower of Christ aka Christian. Wherever you may be Christ took steps so you can take yours little by little with a little faith.

Mountains

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Matthew 17:20

Be Transformed to His way today take your little step of faith and see what mountain, whatever that may be, be moved in your life.
