Summer Harvest

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours

There is a harvest, the labor is not our own, the reward is undeserved.  You can experience this as a Christian, you can enter into this work through evangelism.  Evangelism as a word carries a different character today, but in truth it is the only way that a believer can without a doubt see and experience God’s beating heart of love.  It is not a dead loudspeaker message, it is not a judgment passed onto another, it is an exchange of God’s love from one who has been changed by Love.

There has been an outpouring of this love in Cambodia, I have personally been part of it and the greatest thing about it is…it is not over.  16 more days of blessing ahead!

A small team and I have entered into another’s labor and it is the most amazing thing to be in a place where you feel needed.  In reality the ministry here does not need us, but in the same moment it does.  This is the mystery of evangelism.  On one side God is doing the work on men and women’s hearts and on the other side there is a need for human contact and relationship. In the most mysterious way these meet and you find yourself in awe of it all.  In 1 Corinthians 4 it states that we(believers) are stewards of the mysteries(plural) of God. WHAT A GIFT!

Of course there is not one who possesses knowledge of all these things, but in a measure as God sees our individual capacity and hunger for truth, He gives us a mystery to cherish and share with others.  The message is clear, it is no mystery but history that God gave Christ to seek and save that which was lost. This is past present and future, that is a mystery to big for our human noggins. But I digress, Evangelism is a gift to all who have the gospel resident in their Soul. It is something I have neglected so much and I cannot get enough of it.  To speak and meditate on what God has said, to think about a parable taught by Christ, to analyze and chew on the mysteries of God; this is intrinsic to evangelism.  The fields are white already, but as Christ stated to his disciples:

Luke 10:2

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Please take this to heart if you are a Christian, there is a need for labor, but as I stated before the labor has already been done. Go collect the reward, experience God’s love as you speak of it with others. This is not a call to converts but a call to transformation.( what is a convert anyway apart from some religious program)  Anyone can speak passionately about a belief to an audience, but few can go and give love to an audience.

LOVE IS VULNERABILITY.

Evangelism is an act of love, unifying people as they are reconciled to the one who Loves them most.  As I see and hear the many messages of division in the world, even here in Asia, I feel a burden for sharing true love given by grace.  It is a message that oftentimes cuts deep, but as it is written faithful are the wounds of a friend as the kisses of an enemy are deceit.

Be transformed to his way and enter into the greatest labor on the planet! Share the love of God that unifies, get out of the comfort box and share your story of how God has changed your life, steward a mystery today.u
